Hello! I’m Ted Lee, a UX/UI designer based in Manila.

Disclaimer: If you’re reading this now, I just wanted to give you a quick heads up that I’m in the middle of updating this page. I wrote these back in 2018 — and probably the last time I updated the content here. So please bear with me, as I slowly reflect on my life as a UX designer and the journey it has been.

I started my UX journey when I took General Assembly’s 10-week User Experience Design Immersive bootcamp in New York last October of 2017. Before this, I have worked for a beauty e-commerce start-up and in the F&B industry wearing all sorts of hats from business development, art direction, customer service to operations.

I’ve spent the last two years working for a GCash, a Philippine-based e-wallet start up and it has been one crazy, fun, amazing roller coaster, where I had the opportunity to work on different product features: including financial services, a virtual forest, and a lot of money transfer use cases; to help reimagine our Messenger chatbot experience; and to even have been part of the team to work on the GCash app rebrand.

Through this journey, I had the opportunity to work with an amazing team of designers and researches, I fondly call family, and at the same time, get guidance from counterparts from Alipay’s Global User Experience Design Team learning from their best practices from their other e-wallet ventures across South East Asia.

I’ve also been doing freelance UX work, as well as, graphic design projects on the side. In general, I’m someone who likes to make sure that things look nice, are easy to read, and as much as possible, something that makes sense.

I see design as a medium of communication and I strive to balance aesthetics with functionality to create purposeful designs. Beyond aesthetics, my focus is on human-centered design, aiming to create meaning and value in the things that I do and put out.

Thanks for dropping by and hope you enjoy my work!

Hello! This is me 👋🏼

My roadmap for success:

A little spin on the double-diamond method, my design process follows the same convergent-divergent thinking, through iterative cycles, which begins with (1) solid research on both users and business landscape, (2) defining the details and trends, (3) crafting meaningful solutions to (4) delivering actionable solutions, but with an emphasis on creating delight.

1. DISCOVER

The process starts by looking for "the what" of the problem. Through research, the aim is to understand the details and to find key insights.

2. DISTILL

Next, the focus shifts on "the why". It’s making sense of the information, studying trends, and ultimately, defining what is important.

3. DESIGN

This phase addresses "the how" for solving problem. It’s beginning to craft meaningful solutions through our products.

4. DELIGHT

Putting the focus back on "the who", this phase emphasizes on creating actionable delightful experiences to address the problem.

…And repeat process.
